Description
As a Band 7 Locum Respiratory Physiologist, you will be responsible for delivering advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients with complex respiratory and sleep-related conditions. You will lead on specialist tests and mentor junior staff, ensuring a high standard of care across the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and interpret advanced diagnostic respiratory tests, including full lung function testing, bronchodilator response, gas transfer, and CPET (Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing).
- Conduct and analyze sleep studies, including CPAP and BiPAP setup and titration.
- Provide specialist advice to clinical teams on the management of complex respiratory and sleep conditions.
- Ensure the maintenance, calibration, and safe use of all respiratory diagnostic equipment.
- Supervise and mentor Band 5 and Band 6 physiologists, providing training and development support.
- Contribute to service development, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in line with clinical and organizational standards.
- Adhere to infection prevention and control measures, ensuring a safe and clean working environment.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care.
Essential Requirements
- BSc (Hons) in Clinical Physiology (Respiratory) or equivalent qualification.
- Extensive experience performing advanced diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory tests.
- Proven ability to interpret complex test results and provide clinical recommendations.
- Familiarity with ARTP standards and clinical guidelines for respiratory and sleep diagnostics.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
