Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Locum Band 8a Pharmacist to join our team on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled pharmacist to work at a senior level, contributing to the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care and leadership in a dynamic healthcare environment.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in overseeing clinical pharmacy services, ensuring safe and effective use of medicines, and supporting the wider healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert clinical pharmacy services to patients, ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines.
- Undertake medication reviews and provide evidence-based advice to healthcare professionals and patients.
- Support the development and implementation of medicine management policies and protocols.
- Supervise, mentor, and support junior pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other staff members.
- Conduct audits and contribute to quality improvement initiatives in pharmaceutical care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Provide specialist pharmaceutical advice in specific clinical areas such as oncology, critical care, or antimicrobial stewardship (as applicable).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies regarding medication safety and governance.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in line with professional and organizational standards.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in Pharmacy (MPharm or equivalent).
- Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Extensive experience working at Band 7 or above in clinical pharmacy.
- Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in medication safety and management.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Up-to-date mandatory training, including safeguarding and Basic Life Support (BLS).
