Description

As a Band 8a Locum Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, you will provide specialist psychological assessments, interventions, and consultation within a multidisciplinary team. You will work with clients presenting with complex mental health needs, supporting them to achieve their goals and enhance their well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, using a range of methods to understand clients' needs and challenges.
  • Develop and deliver evidence-based psychological interventions tailored to individual clients and groups.
  • Provide specialist consultation and advice to multidisciplinary teams to support psychological aspects of care.
  • Offer supervision and guidance to junior staff and trainees where required.
  • Contribute to service development, audits, and research to ensure high-quality care.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with professional and organizational standards.

Essential Requirements

  • Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or equivalent), recognized by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Significant post-qualification experience working in mental health settings.
  • Proven ability to provide evidence-based psychological therapies, such as CBT, ACT, or other relevant approaches.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
