Description

As a Locum Orthotist, you will be responsible for assessing, designing, and fitting orthotic devices to meet the needs of patients with physical disabilities or mobility challenges. You will work closely with patients, healthcare professionals, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, individualized care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and evaluate patients' physical conditions to determine their orthotic needs.
  • Design, fit, and adjust orthotic devices, including braces, insoles, and supports, to enhance mobility and comfort.
  • Provide patient education on the use, care, and maintenance of orthotic devices.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of orthotic devices, making modifications as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including physiotherapists, podiatrists, and occupational therapists, to ensure holistic care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in line with organizational and professional standards.
  • Stay updated with advancements in orthotic technology and incorporate evidence-based practices into patient care.
  • Adhere to infection control, health and safety, and safeguarding protocols.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Prosthetics and Orthotics.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Proven experience as an Orthotist, with the ability to manage a diverse caseload.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach to care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
