As a Locum Band 7 Highly Specialist Paediatric Speech & Language Therapist, you will provide advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for children with complex speech, language, and communication disorders. You will work closely with families, carers, and a multidisciplinary team to support the development of each child’s communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialist assessment, diagnosis, and therapy for children with a range of complex communication disorders, including speech, language, social communication, and feeding difficulties.
• Develop and implement individualized therapy plans, setting specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals to optimize outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including paediatricians, psychologists, occupational therapists, and educational staff, to ensure a holistic approach to care.
• Provide support and training to parents, carers, and education staff to promote the generalization of skills in everyday settings.
• Lead on service development initiatives, contributing to clinical governance, quality improvement, and audit processes.
• Supervise and mentor junior therapists, therapy assistants, and students, fostering a culture of learning and development within the team.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records in line with professional standards and organizational policies.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree in Speech & Language Therapy and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Extensive experience working as a Paediatric Speech & Language Therapist, preferably at Band 7 level, with a strong understanding of complex communication needs.
• Expertise in managing a diverse caseload, including children with autism, developmental delays, speech sound disorders, and feeding difficulties.
• Excellent clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and engage families in the therapy process.
• Proven track record of contributing to service development and leading clinical audits.
• Experience in clinical supervision and mentoring is desirable.
