We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly Outpatients team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Support the Registered Nurses in the implementation of an agreed plan of care with the patient
• Help promote and maintain a caring, supportive environment focused on meeting the needs of the patient/relatives/carer, working collaboratively with other departments to achieve this
• Look after the physical comfort of patients, for example helping them with activities of daily living.
• Take basic observations such as blood pressure and temperature, height and weight, utilising the early warning score system as per hospital policy and escalate appropriately to the trained nurse
• Listen and talk to patients, helping them to feel supported and safe
• Assist with keeping the department clean and tidy, for example cleaning of equipment, adhering to infection prevention and control policy and hospital procedures at all times
• Keep supplies and equipment in order, assisting in the maintenance of stock levels
• Maintain contemporaneous patient records including patient pathways and the relevant IT reporting systems are up-to-date and accurate ensuring countersigned by a trained nurse.
• Chaperone when required
• Participate in basic wound care management as required
• Deal with any patient/relative complaints at the time if possible however escalate to appropriate member of staff if need be
• Report complaints, compliments and untoward incidents via Datix as per hospital policy
