Description
As an RGN - Tracheostomy Specialist, you will play a vital role in the care and management of patients with tracheostomies, providing high-quality nursing and respiratory support. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, physiotherapists, and respiratory specialists, to deliver individualized care plans and ensure patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Tracheostomy Care: Deliver expert care in tracheostomy management, including routine tube changes, suctioning, and site cleaning, in line with best practices and safety protocols.
- Patient Monitoring and Assessment: Perform regular assessments of respiratory status, monitor patient progress, and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Emergency Response: Act promptly in tracheostomy-related emergencies, managing blocked or displaced tubes and other respiratory complications.
- Patient and Family Education: Provide guidance and support to patients, families, and caregivers, educating them on tracheostomy management and respiratory care.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records, documenting all tracheostomy and respiratory interventions in compliance with regulatory standards.
Essential Requirements
- Qualifications: Degree in Nursing with current NMC registration as a Registered General Nurse (RGN).
- Experience: Demonstrated experience in tracheostomy care and respiratory nursing, with strong clinical skills in managing tracheostomy patients.
