Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Specialist Physiotherapist (Respiratory & Neurology) to join a dynamic healthcare team. Responsibilities:-
- To be responsible for a overall therapy clinical caseload and ensure that the patients/residents receive appropriate assessment and treatment to a high professional standard, in accordance with the Professional Standards and Code of Ethics of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP). To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work and supervision of others.
- To undertake specialist assessment of residents, including those with diverse or complex physical disability and multi-pathologies; use clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate foundation for the physio-therapeutic management of resident’s conditions.
- To be responsible to undertake (a) a specialist assessment of neurological physiotherapy, neuro-musculoskeletal (b) providing tailored physical therapy / physical activity program on a wide range of intervention options and (c) to monitor, evaluate resident’s progress with appropriate and valid outcome measures to formulate the resident-centred care through framework / model of care e.g ICF. (d) respiratory assessment for complex non-invasive ventilation therapy and care support.
- To ensure competence in the use of all required equipment and are used safely at all times during treatment; and to ensure residents’ competence in and safe use of any appliances and aids used by them.
- To be responsible and accountable to demonstrate knowledge, skill of using outcome measures and implementing measures, e.g SMART, GAS goals, FIM/FAM, CPAX, NPTDA-PHYS, NPDS-H, NIS, RCS, ASIA, pain scales.
- To be responsible to undertake full assessment and independently plan individual, specialised, evidence-based, treatment programmes for residents appropriately depending on the physiotherapist’s or medical diagnosis, using clinical reasoning and a variety of highly specialist skills such as use of respiratory and ventilatory adjuncts, tracheostomy management, capillary blood gases and plan further intervention / rehabilitation.
- To be responsible for intervention, such as nebuliser devices and airway clearance adjuncts (including insufflation-exsufflation device). To issue such equipment with due regard to safety of the equipment, and in line with legal, national, and local guidelines.
