Our Pastoral Services
Why should you choose to work with Permanent & Locum Hire?
We have an outstanding pastoral support which has been tried and tested to support both the client and candidates.
We provide preparatory information material to support the overseas candidate in readiness for their arrival to the UK which reduces some of the anxiety associated with relocating and working in a new country.
Welcome Letter: A welcome letter is sent prior to the arrival of the overseas candidate setting the tone making them feel welcomed and valued by the organisation.
Airport pick up: Meeting overseas candidate at the airport on their arrival and transporting them to their accommodation is a vital part of the onboarding experience. This helps settle the overseas candidate in orientating their new space and surroundings. If possible, we include previously recruited overseas candidates to welcome them at the airport.
Accommodation: Ensure the overseas candidate meet with their accommodation team and obtain the keys and the contract of tenancy is signed.
Financial Support: We will negotiate to provide some form of financial support to the overseas candidate on arrival. A salary advance of approximately £500 in cash is often considered, as this will ensure that the overseas candidate has access to cash should there be any delays in the bank account being set up.
Transportation: We arrange pick up and drop for the first week of the overseas candidate work to help them become familiar with local transport links. We also provide pre-topped up Oyster card since they will most likely use public transport.
Arrival Pack: We have found it extremely helpful to provide linen, bedding, pillows, toilet paper, crockery, milk, eggs, rice, noodles, bread, butter, coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper, and fruits.
Greeting Lunch/welcome dinner: A welcoming event and invite previously recruited overseas candidates and other clinical staff as part of their orientation.
Navigating around the local community: Helping our overseas candidates with navigating around clients hospital site(s) and local community is a good way of familiarising with local surroundings. This could include taking you to the local supermarket, helping to use the tube/bus services, showing the local church/spiritual place.
Buddy System: Peer support from previously recruited overseas candidates is an excellent approach to supporting existing cohorts for OSCE preparation, orientation, and integration. This approach has significant benefits in reducing anxieties and allaying fears.
Induction and Training: Having a clearly defined induction, training and career progression plans is a must and goes a long way in helping candidates learn, develop, and become an integral part of our pastoral care services
